Connecticut Walgreens Project
Walgreens, one of the nation’s largest retailers, has opened a large distribution center in Windsor, CT in 2008. The company's goal of having one-third of its workforce composed of persons with disabilities will bring hundreds of full-time job opportunities for persons with cognitive, physical and mental disabilities.
The distribution center has been designed to provide a number of accommodations for people with disabilities, such as ergonomically-designed workstations, simplified computer screens and on-staff job coaches. In addition, a pre-employment training program will be available for those individuals who will require additional social or work skills in order to succeed in a job at the new facility.
